Evidence For Mirror Therapy; Clinical And Scientific Studies
Mirror therapy was first described by V.S.Ramachandran and colleagues in 1995. Since this initial finding, mirror therapy is gaining a strong reputation as an effective tool for alleviating phantom limb pain and also helping rehabilitation of patients suffering from an inability or partial inability to move a limb following a stroke.
There have been many articles and peer reviewed publications written on the use of mirror therapy for treatment and alleviation of various clinical conditions including phantom limb pain, stroke, complex regional pain syndrome and other neurological conditions. The majority of the clinical and scientific studies in personal patient articles show a positive effect i.e. mirror therapy is beneficial and an important tool for the treatment of a variety of clinical conditions.
