Mirror therapy for the 21st century enabled by Prism Glasses.
What is Mirror Therapy?
Mirror therapy is a form of treatment, based on imagery. It is used as a therapy for a number of medical conditions including phantom limb pain, stroke, complex regional pain syndrome and other neurological conditions.
The user looks at their functional limb, through the prism glasses. An image of the functional limb is seen as a mirror image e.g. looking at the right hand they see an image of left hand.
An illusion of the affected or amputated limb moving normally is created by observing a mirror image of the unaffected limb.

By performing exercises whilst looking at the image, the user can help to relieve pain and also help to regain movement of arms and legs, for example limbs affected by a stroke.
Patients, doctors, physiotherapists and scientists have found mirror therapy to be an effective way to relieve phantom limb pain and encourage recovery of movement after stroke.
