NHS Scotland Innovations Nominated For Prestigious Life Science Award.

Three novel NHS healthcare innovations have been shortlisted for a prestigious Scottish Healthshil_award__nominees__2010 Innovations Ltd Award for best innovation originating from NHS Scotland. The winner will be announced at the Scottish Enterprise Life Sciences Annual Dinner at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on the 4th  February.

New Innovation launched to help those suffering from phantom limb pain.

Mirror therapy is gaining a strong reputation as an effective tool for alleviating phantom limb pain and also helping rehabilitation of patients suffering from an inability to move a limb following a stroke. Doctors in Scotland have revolutionised the way mirror therapy is used by creating the Prism Glasses.

SHIL is liaising with various organisations, individuals and charities to evaluate and promote End the Pain Project logothe use of Prism Glasses for use in mirror therapy as a treatment for various conditions. The most recent collaboration is with the End the Pain Project, a charity set up to help those suffering form phantom limb pain. Other partners evaluating the product include the University of Dundee and NHS Highland.
